1996 rover mini 'cooper s touring' by miniworld & john cooper garages

A unique opportunity to purchase a MiniWorld Magazine feature car specially converted by John Cooper Garages.

This Mini was supplied to Link House Magazines, the publisher of MiniWorld, on 12th December 1996 and is presented in Nightfire Red with contrasting cream leather interior. The Mini became the subject of a MiniWorld special feature project and it was subsequently sent to John Cooper Garages in Worthing for the Cooper S Touring 85bhp conversion. Further cosmetic enhancements included special ‘S Touring’ and ‘MiniWorld’ decals, engraved John Cooper door trim and a custom set of ‘MiniWorld’ embroidered floor mats with matching cream leather piping. The Mini was finished off with a set of MiniSport 'Saxon' split-rim four-spoke alloy wheels and a high quality power amplifier and speaker system. The entire project was publicised in MiniWorld Magazine, with the car offered as a prize in MiniWorld's 'Win a Min!' competition. On 6th July 1997, the Mini was collected by the lucky competition winner at the International MiniWorld Show, held at the NEC in Birmingham.

Currently displaying 38,000 miles, the Mini presents fantastically well and has clearly been carefully maintained from new. The car has been in the latest owner's possession for over six years and its previous owner kept it for over ten years. The original John Cooper Garages number plates and rear winder sticker are present. The chrome is in very good condition and the rubbers have retained their rich colour, resisting substantial wear. The cabin is also in fine order with some minor wear to the leather gear knob and burr walnut binnacle cover. Attached to the crossmember resides a John Cooper Garages conversion plaque engraved ‘MiniWorld’ followed by conversion number 97001.

The Mini is sold newly serviced and MOT’d and is ready to be enjoyed. Notably, the car has had no MOT advisories recorded in the past eight years, and no corrosion issues ever recorded on its MOT history. This special Mini drives incredibly well and the 85bhp-converted engine is strong and pulls impeccably.

Supplied with the Mini is a comprehensive history file and a laminated copy of the MiniWorld Magazine coverage, which includes a complete writeup of the project as well as details of the subsequent competition.

Phil is a really genuine, honest, respectful and polite man to deal with. He was very flexible and made our transaction very smooth, even completing all the paperwork and kept me fully informed throughout. I would not hesitate to use the company again. Thank you Phil.

Gemma Page

From start to finish Phil was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Knowledgeable, professional and kind. I absolutely adore my new (but old!) Mini Cooper. She's a beauty! Would definitely recommend and if I'm in the market for a classic again, Phil Mires Classic Cars would be my first port of call.
